An Evening with Walter Waygood

This Wednesday (11/02/26) was pleased to welcome our club president and documentary photographer Walter Waygood to present our first photographic talk of the 2026 season. Walter trained as Fine Art Artist specialising in photography, which subsequently lead to him as a Community Artist and as a Course Leader at Brockenhurst College in Hampshire. He has most recently received the national One Voice Wales award and his work is exhibited widely throughout the country.

This evening Walter presented his PhD portfolio capturing the spirit and essence of the South Wales Coalfield through it’s Landscape, Architecture and it’s Communities of Families. The body of work Walter has assembled throughout his career is true amazing and the club members were rivetted to their seats for the whole two hours presentation as he told his stories with humour, his enthusiasm and passion for his subject and the art of photography is so absorbing.
